Excel Saga

The world as we know it is a pool of dirt and filth. Manga writers, corrupt fake-haired politicians... there is no hope for Earth and its people... except in one secret organization. Across!

But Across is ripe with problems... flooding, an operative that dies on completely random occasions. Its up to Excel to rid the world of all evil -- or rather, try not to die on one!

Today's experiment....failed

Billed as "the ultimate parody of anime," EXCEL SAGA certainly goes out of its way to parody every convention of the genre it can. From the cloying J-pop opening, it's clear that this series' sole aim is to be a good-natured farce, one that revolves around a main character who, on the surface is not much different from any other anime heroine. However, the key difference between Excel and all those who preceded her is that Excel is completely and utterly insane and considers it her goal to to conquer the city of F. This gives the series a clear and ingenious jumping off point as it encounters Martian princesses, afro-wearing action heroes, mysterious governmental agencies, space butlers, deranged comic book authors, annoying roommates, and removable moustaches, among other things.
