22 years ago, a strange incident occurred in Japan, which divided Japan and created the Lost Ground. Upon the creation of this ground, the people who inhabited the land were plagued with abilities that resemble the X-gene found in X-men, which gives humans a mutant power, which represents their hidden "spirit" energy. The mutant power is called Alter Ability in Scryed. The protagonist, of this anime is Kazuma, a rebellious minded fellow that rarely obeys authority and fights the force that opposes the Lost Ground. The antagonist is Ryuhou that believes the lost ground must be contained at all costs and leads a division of alter capabilists, named HOLY, that captures rebel capabilists
